Musk's DOGE workers are now investigating Medicare and Medicaid. They want to eliminate fraud, but can they also be hurting poor Americans and senior citizens' benefits?

DOGE and Musk have nothing to do with government efficiency actually they are doing quite the opposite. The goal of DOGE is two fold. First and foremost it's to get rid of the people and agencies investigating or regulating Musk. The second is to free up a few trillion dollars to pay for the tax cuts for the rich Trump promised and I can only imagine was paid very well for. The problem is there is no way to free up that much money without getting into Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. They could cut military funding but that would mean cutting defense contracts with the rich and their companies. Why would they do that when they could just fuck over regular Americans that aren't feeding them millions of dollars. It's not like they give a fuck about regular Americans.
There is no investigation. Musk knows exactly what he is going to do before walking in the door. In order to find fraud, corruption, etc you need to do a forensic audit. Which is not something that happens in 24–48 hours. He doesn't have to do any investigating because he is just going to make up some shit to claim fraud. You can lie your ass off when you have no intention to provide evidence of your lies. Since the GOP is too busy sucking Trumps dick to do their job and follow their oath of office, Trump and president Musk can do whatever they want.
